Herald's Trumpet and Banner
The Herald's Trumpet will sound a rousing fanfare for lords and ladies or decorate castle walls to perfection! The trumpet is crafted in drawn brass and measuring an impressive 50" long. The Herald's trumpet can be supplied with an optional banner. The Herald's banner is a perfect addition to our Herald's trumpet. The banner is rectangular shape, being 36 V2 long and 15 V2 inches wide. The banner is of yellow color with a red image of rampant lion. Our Herald's banner is of close resemblance to the Scottish royal flag, which is also yellow and features red rampant lion. Herald was originally a messenger sent by a king or nobleman to pass on a message or announcement. In medieval Europe, herald was charged with carrying messages to and from the commanders of opposing armies. In the 12th century heralds formally announced and conducted tournaments, including the proclamation of each joust and the name of each combatant. The trumpet was usually used to get people's attention. Perhaps because of their role managing the tournaments of the late Middle Ages, heralds came to be associated with the regulation of the knights' coats of arms. However, in the United Kingdom, heralds are still called to read announcements publicly. Banner and Trumpet can be sold separately. #52119.. .$120.49

Scottish Targe
Brass shield boss and leather arm straps complete this authentic replica. Used by the wild clansmen of Scotland, this shield was still in use in 1745 when it gave the Redcoats real trouble during Bonnie Prince Charlie's Rebellion. When the Redcoats lunged with the bayonet, the Scots would catch it on the Targe, and then slash with the sword. Our shield's 1 thick plywood construction allows for a thick dose of protection. The 7 inch long, removable steel spike has a square cross section like the old ones and screws into a grommet for use as a weapon. The thick, top grain leather is embossed with traditional Celtic designs and protected by a leather lacquer to give it a beautiful sheen. Secured by a metal rim. Studded with brass tacks.

The Fantasy Halberd is a Barbarian Halberd, decorated in a skull and serpent motif. The halberd is perfect for the role-playing marauder. The edge cannot be sharpened. The head axe measures 12"xl2" and is adorned with intricate skull and skeleton design. Most halberds have a broad, short axe blade on a long shaft, with a spear point at the top of the weapon. Halberds were the primary weapon of the Swiss, mostly in the 14th century. The halberd was an effective weapon for a foot soldier against cavalry, and in skilled hands the weapon could dismount a knight and seal his fate. Halberd came to prominent use during the 14th and 15th centuries. The halberd was best known for the sheer weight and cutting power of its axe head. It was able to carve through the armor commonly used by knights upon its introduction to battlefield. Handle Length: 68 1/2" Overall Length: 81"

German Gothic cuirass and Tassets
The last half of the 15th century saw armor reach its apex of beauty, in both form and function. The German school of armor making imitated the angular and pointed Gothic architecture of the period, which can be seen in our beautiful crafted version of a German Gothic Cuirass. Richly fluted, our Cuirass comes with fauld and tassets in the "English Style", and would have been a common sight on the battlefields of The War of the Roses. Knights on the continent preferred a more widely flaring fauld without tassets, with cui-shes extending higher up on the thigh, to close the gap. The fleur-de-lis on the peak of the placard gives it a personal touch. Handcrafted by Windlass Steelcrafts in India of 18 gauge steel. The original we copied was made for Hank by Canadian Armorer Peter Fuller, whose work can be seen in such prestigious institutions as the Higgins Armory Museum, Royal Ontario Museum, and the Canadian War Museum.

Mail Gauntlets
To protect the back of the hand, we have added mail on our black leather gauntlets and also placed slightly cupped steel lames all around the cuff. These gauntlets offer good protection to the hand, wrist and lower arm from a sword slash or draw cut. There are a pair much like these at the Art Institute of Chicago that are highly decorative, however we have left ours plain to keep the price down and to allow them to be correct for a very long period of history from the Early Middle Ages well into the Renaissance.
Steel Vambraces
These steel lower arm guards will go with a large range of period outfits and weapons. They are nicely formed and lined with leather. Straps on the inner arm adjust to fit just about anyone. When the head and hands were protected by armor, the lower arm was one of the prime targets in swordplay. In many cases it was the only piece of armor worn, most often along with a mail shirt.
Renaissance Steel Shield
As the Middle Ages gave way to the Renaissance, wood shields gradually yielded in popularity to steel shields, such as this, round domed. A terrific asset for mercenaries in crashing through lines of pikemen, this shield was easily maneuverable and strong. Made in India of 16 gauge steel with a rolled edge and leather grips. Popular from the late 15th until well into the 17th century.

In case the leg is too long for your height, the bottom rings can be snipped off to the correct length. Upper portion can be laced for even more of a custom fit. With your mail shirt worn over the leggings, much of the back of the thigh is covered. #M9632.. .$220.00

Scutum With Antiqued Brass Embossed Wings
Scutum is the Latin word for any type of shield, although in modern times, it has been associated with the standard semi-cylindrical type carried by Roman legionaries. Curved Scutum was constructed largely of strips of overlapping bentwood. This meant the shield was strong and yet light enough to be carried over long distances. Scutum with Antiqued Brass Embossed Wings features a highly detailed emblem and rim. Curved shield measures 45" x 23" and is 1/2" thick.
Scutum With Embossed Wings
Scutum is the Latin word for any type of shield, although in modern times it has been associated with the standard semi-cylindrical type carried by Roman legionaries. The curved shaped of the shield allowed it to absorb heavy blows, while the sides sloped away from the attacker, allowing arrows and enemy blows to glance off without transmitting the full force of the impact to the legionary sheltering behind it.
Scutum With Embossed Wings features a cut out white metal lightning bolts. All with an antiqued finish. Curved shield measures 45" x 23" and is 1/2" thick.
